Salamanca Artisanal Spheres - Recycled Glass Tumblers
Title
This carafe is produced in a glassblowing workshop located in the Jalisco region of western Mexico, skillfully managed by Doña Josefina. Josefina is not only recognized for her management skills but also for her commitment to social responsibility, employing those who are socially disadvantaged and offering apprenticeships to youth in the esteemed craft of glassblowing. The material used in this partner workshop is composed of 100% recycled glass, which carries several benefits:
- Recycling glass requires less energy compared to new production since recycled glass melts at lower temperatures than the raw materials needed for glass manufacturing.
- Glass can be melted down and reformed numerous times without losing quality.
- The process of melting down recycled glass conserves natural resources like quartz sand, soda, and lime, which also reduces environmental impacts associated with the manufacturing process.
Each piece of this carafe is hand-blown, making it a unique specimen of Mexican craftsmanship. The slight variations in shape, height, and diameter do not signify defects, but rather highlight the individuality of each carafe, encapsulating the essence of traditional Mexican glassblowing artistry.
